ERIC JERPE, THE WAALM AWARD WINNER IN LITERATURE PASSED AWAY!
Eric was honored by WAALM in 2008 and received the Persian Golden Lioness Award in Literature for Best Short Story, Fantasy, "The Return of Scherazade".
Eric passed away yesterday, he was a remarkable soul, who was burdened by several very difficult disabilities, and yet he achieved a great deal. He should be valued and extolled as a great example of a fine human being. In deed this is a great loss and the WAALM Academy has lost a remarkable member.

A MAJOR ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE
The Founders of WAALM have decided to separate WAALM from
IFSI Institute.
"In order to reduce the workload from IFSI and assist
Self-funding of WAALM; we see it better for WAALM to become an
independent entity, a non-for-profit company yet acting as the
awarding body of Persian Golden Lioness Awards. Also, with view to
the current economical climate we have decided to run WAALM
bi-annually or whenever there is sufficient funds."
Said Prof. Dorbayani

CUT THE LONG STORY SHORT
After touring the United States and carefully evaluating all the elements
involved, the founders of WAALM were not convinced that the Artistic and Cultural
Communities in the US, LA in particular were up to the job to fully support a
WAALM International event. Reservation on WAALM's budget and
visa obstacles for awardees from Europe and Middle East were among other
factors for WAALM to postpone its event in the US until further notice.

Following the numerous requests of conducting the next Persian Golden Lioness Awards® in the United States and as part of an official business trip to the US

We were just informed that Mrs. Mahasti the renowned Persian Pop and Classic Vocal Artist is hospitalized in Dubai for having an extended cancer. Mahasti who traveled to Dubai for a Persian New Year concert along with Sattar and Golpa, regretfully couldn't make it up the stage and was rushed to the hospital. Our hearts and minds are with her and we all pray for her speedy recovery. Mahasti was one of our Academy Award winners in 2005.

WHO WILL HOST THE 3rd WAALM AWARDS?
The discussion on who shall host the 3rd annual awards began in last November.
The past two annual awards were hosted by Dr. Marjan Abdi who indeed made a remarkable job but on the recommendation of Dr. Abdi herself, WAALM is in process of nominating new hosts. "While nomination is in progress, re-appointing Marjan to host the 3rd annual awards shall remain an option." said Prof. Dorbayani, Founder of WAALM. Post your comments HERE
THREE CATEGORIES; THREE SPLENDID NIGHTS
The Executive Founders and their team of advisors are examining the possibilities of having the different categories of WAALM Awards on separated nights. In principal there are three major categories of Arts, Literature, and Media and by allocating a complete night per category, WAALM could allow each category to expand in its size, number of awards, and media coverage independently from one another. If this gets approved, you shall expect a three-night splendid black tie and red carpet receptions. Post your comments HERE
